She Asked for a Sign

Carly* said she was planning on having an abortion but wanted an ultrasound “Just to see what’s happening in there.”
She had already been to Planned Parenthood to confirm her pregnancy and was formulating the plan for her next step - abortion. She was on her way home when she saw the sign outside Informed Choices offering free pregnancy services.
She walked in and asked if she could have an ultrasound. Our response, a definite “Yes!” She also was given the chance to slow down and talk about her situation and her options.
She shared with us that she and her husband had already discussed their situation, which included a 4-year-old daughter who was going through chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma and a 14-year-old son who “Did not want another sibling!”
She and her husband had each agreed that abortion was the most reasonable option for them in their situation.
We talked about unexpected blessings that sometimes come during hard times. We talked about having a long-term view of life and how she might feel years down the road if she chooses abortion or if she chooses life.
The ultrasound showed her that her baby was very much alive. She saw her baby’s beating heart, little face, and tiny fingers and toes.
After the ultrasound she told me that as she was driving away from Planned Parenthood, she had asked God for a sign. Not only had she seen the literal sign in front of Informed Choices, but she also said she felt God all around her as she talked with us and as she viewed her baby on ultrasound.
God is so faithful, and he has a sense of humor! She asked for a sign, and he gave her two. One, the literal sign outside the clinic and two, the sign of his felt presence and love here at Informed Choices.
Thank you so much for keeping our doors open so that women like Carly can make informed decisions and feel the love of God in this very special place.
