Just Do Something has been a phrase I’ve been feeling the Lord impress on my heart of late. From posts on social media that read, “Don’t withhold from people when its within your ability to do something”, to the title and main theme of a book I recently read named “Just Do Something” or from a poem shared by my pastor that reads,
“I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do”
~ Edward Everett Hale
I can’t ignore the strong sense that God is asking me to do something. But isn’t that the case for all of us? We can’t do everything like the poet pens, but we can do the something that we can do. So, it begs the question, what can I do, Lord?
When we look to scripture, we read countless stories of men and women who were providentially used to impact history. Some accounts are miraculous, others seem ordinary, but none less important than the other. From Noah, Moses, Esther, and Rahab, we see a common theme, they obeyed the Lord and did the something they could do. They faced ridicule, feelings of inadequacy, fear in the face of certain death, and all demonstrated tremendous courage.
Every day we support women who are challenged with supporting the needs of their growing families. Some are at a crossroads of indecision, not knowing whether to keep their unborn child. While others are facing impossible hardship and need support. Over the past few months, we have shared the story of a young woman whose life has been forever changed, because of the support she received. Christine* came to Informed Choices nearly one year ago, after taking the first dose of the abortion pill. Her immediate regret led her to seek out the lifesaving abortion pill rescue protocol. It just took one voice at the other end of the call to guide her to Informed Choices and it was here that she felt supported, accepted and loved. We are excited to announce, Christine gave birth to her beautiful son, Michael.*
We rejoice in the life of Michael, and the others unnamed who have been born in the last year. We rejoice as we expectantly wait to meet the newest members of our client’s families. BUT, in the waiting there is much to be done. As a pregnancy medical clinic in a hostile, sanctuary state like California, whose website (https://abortion.ca.gov/) now touts it as such, we need your support! More than ever, we need you to do the something you can do! Will you connect with us on our social media platforms, through our monthly newsletter and in prayer? Will you give of your time and consider serving as a volunteer? Will you consider partnering with us? The majority of our funding comes from financial partnerships in our community. Will you consider a monthly gift of $50, $75 or $100 to help support the growing need in our community? We can’t do the something that God has called us to do without YOU! Will you consider the “something you can do” today to help us shine bright and further our mission to Supporting Women and Upholding Life?
